Feb. 23rd - 26th - Employment Training Specialist

This workshop is designed to provide participants with specific skills in supported and community employment, job development, and training for students in transition. Successful completion of the course will result in certifications through Michigan APSE.

This workshop has been approved by the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative for 24 CE clock hours.
 
Feb. 25th - Non-Violent Crisis Intervention - (Battle Creek, MI)
Participants will learn how to:
  • identify behaviors that could lead to a crisis
  • effectively respond to each behavior to prevent the situation from escalating
  • user verbal and non-verbal techniques to diffuse hostile behavior and resolve a crisis before it becomes violent

Mar. 25th - Evidence Based Supported Employment - (Kalamazoo, MI)
The purpose of this training is to provide hands-on learning for employment service providers who are interested in implementing or are in the process of implementing evidence-based Support Employment for people with mental illness as described in the SAMHSA Toolkits.

This training will help you:
  • identify Evidence-Based Supported Employment issues for people with mental illness
  • describe the benefits of work for persons recovering from mental illness
  • illustrate the efficacy of Supported employment programs vs. traditional vocational rehabilitation programs
  • and much more!
 
April 16th - Ethics and Pain Management - Bus Tour - (Chicago, IL)
Enjoy a ride to Chicago and back while learning about Ethics and Pain Management! While in Chicago, you will be given time to sightsee and shop.

Topics to be discussed:
  • The history of pain management and compare the WHO – 3 steps of analgesia for pain management
  • Understanding the difference between somatic, visceral and neuropathic pain
  • The value and limitations for sustained-release analgesic products
  • Contrast the concepts of addiction, tolerance and physical dependence
  • Discuss the Code of Ethics, case reviews & discussions
This workshop has been approved by the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative for 5 CE contact hours in Ethics and 1 CE contact hour in Pain Management.
